Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who was caught in a controversy over jaywalking while visiting an incense burner in the Itaewon disaster, was fined by the police.

The Prime Minister's Office released a statement today (23rd) and said, "Prime Minister Han paid the fine imposed by the police that day in connection with crossing the red light at the crosswalk."

The Prime Minister's Office continued, "Prime Minister Han said, 'I will pay more attention to the schedule and movement in the future so that it does not violate the law and order'."

An official from the Prime Minister's Office explained, "I received a police officer's order at the scene at the time, but according to the police's judgment, I was notified of the fine again that day and paid it right away."

On the 19th, Prime Minister Han visited a joint memorial altar near Noksapyeong Station in Yongsan-gu without notice, and turned to the protest of the bereaved family demanding an apology.

In the process of leaving the incense burner and boarding a vehicle across the street, Prime Minister Han crossed a crosswalk that had a red light.

In this regard, a citizen reported to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul through the People's Sinmungo, saying that 'Prime Minister Han violated the Road Traffic Act'.

The Prime Minister's Office explained on the 21st that Prime Minister Han crossed the road in accordance with the instructions of the on-site police officer.
