Kim Seong-won (40), a Korean athlete who participated in the Jet Ski World Grand Prix, died in a sudden accident during the race.



Jet Ski is a water sport in which a person sits on a small water vehicle and rides it like a motorcycle or stands while holding the steering wheel to navigate the sea.



On the 19th local time, the Pattaya News, a Thai newspaper, reported that "Kim Seong-won died in an accident while turning his first curve during the free racing race of the Water Jet World Grand Prix held in Pattaya, Thailand on the 17th."



At the time, Kim Seong-won was taken out of the water by the tournament rescue team and transported to a nearby Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, but never regained consciousness.



According to reports, no fractures or trauma were found on the body of the deceased, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.



The organizers of the event said, "There was no conflict with other participants," and said they would prepare for the funeral process.
