A new K15 machine gun (5.56mm) to replace the K3 light machine gun of the Korean military, which has been introduced for over 30 years, has appeared.

SNT Motiv, a manufacturer of small-diameter firearms, held a 'K15 Machine Gun System Shipment Ceremony' at its Busan headquarters on the morning of the 16th, attended by military officials such as the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Defense Agency for Technology and Quality, and Army and Air Force Headquarters.

The K15 machine gun project was carried out to reorganize the defense reform unit, reinforce weaknesses due to troop reduction, and replace the aging K3 machine gun.

In particular, we focused on securing a machine gun system that meets the global trend, such as organizing machine guns and mounting sighting devices.

Unlike the existing K3, the new K15 machine gun is integrated with a day and night sighting device, enabling it to suppress regional targets such as long-distance enemy concentration units.

Accuracy, reliability and operational convenience have also been improved.

Picatinny rails are fitted for quick exchange of barrels and a wide range of accessories.

The stock and bipod can be freely adjusted according to the physique of the soldier.

An official from SNT Motiv said, "The K15 machine gun has been improved in many areas, such as performance and convenience, compared to the existing K3 light machine gun."
