A kindergarten in Wirye New Town.

There are a little over 10 students in the late-school class for 3-year-olds entering kindergarten for the first time.

In Incheon Geomdan and Songdo New Town, this standby number may exceed 200 times.

[Parent: It will be vaguely one of the three places.

But when I put in the application form, I was surprised to the point where I wondered if there were so many kids...

.]

Parents who work both incomes desperately need an after-school class that takes care of their children until the evening, rather than a curriculum class that ends around one or two o'clock in the day.

[Parents: If you don't send (to kindergarten), double income is a big problem, so I want mothers to make more kindergartens or daycare centers...

.]

The reason why there is a war for kindergarten admission in each new city is that there are many young couples, and because of the special supply of multiple children, which is one of the countermeasures against low birth rates, the number of children has increased rapidly, but the number of kindergartens has not increased that much.

In the case of Geomdan New Town, there are 1,400 children aged three years old, but the garden is only 600.

Four out of 10 children can go to kindergarten.

Compared to the overall average in Incheon, it is only half.

[Parent: In the case of a famous private (kindergarten), you won't be able to get into the 10th class well?

I have to give up on the 200th class and start looking for an English kindergarten soon.

There is also a lack of English kindergartens.]

Education authorities say that it is not easy to review the expansion of kindergartens beyond the planned level in a situation where the low birth rate is intensifying.

[Education Office official: If the number of teachers increases without limit, additional teachers will be needed accordingly, but there is also a problem with the supply and demand of teachers.]

If it is difficult to build a new kindergarten right away, the government can There is a high demand for urgent alternatives.

In addition to systems such as special provision for multiple children, key educational facilities such as kindergartens must also be supplied to take a step closer to solving the problem of low birth rates.
