Today (1st) from 10:00 p.m., late-night surcharges for taxi fares in Seoul will begin, and mid-size taxis will increase the surcharge rate to a maximum of 40% during peak night time hours.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, from today, the late-night surcharge for medium-sized taxis will be extended by two hours from '10:00 pm to 4:00 am the next day' compared to the previous late-night surcharge.
In addition, between 11:00 pm and 2:00 am the next day, a 40% surcharge, which is twice the basic 20% surcharge, is applied.
Deluxe and large-size taxis, which did not have a late-night surcharge before, also have a late-night surcharge starting today, with a 20% surcharge applied from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the next day.
A 20% surcharge outside the clock that applies outside of Seoul is also newly introduced.
