An exhibition in the premises of Inrap in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) looks back on the many discoveries that had been made during excavations carried out under Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne airport in 2020, reports

La Montagne

.

The tomb of an 18-month-old child dating from 2,000 years ago had notably been found.

The deceased lay in a wooden chest.

Various objects were next to it, including about twenty vases, a hoop, various deposits related to the funeral ceremony, or even a dog skeleton with its collar, its bell and its leash.

Another child's milk tooth

This is an unprecedented discovery in Auvergne.

A milk tooth in a shell was also found.

It would belong to an older child.

In total, traces of an occupation during the Iron Age, Antiquity and the High Middle Ages have been identified, which gives a wide field of investigation still under exploration.

Several analyzes have already shown that the jars contained wine, pitch and animal fat.

These discoveries will be the subject of numerous scientific publications in the coming years, indicate our colleagues.
