An incumbent police officer in his 40s who stalked a junior police officer and forced another junior police officer to stop the investigation was handed over to trial.

The Daegu District Prosecutor's Office's stalking crime investigation team (Chief Prosecutor Jang Il-hee) announced today (28th) that it has prosecuted Mr. A (45), an incumbent Daegu police officer, without detention on charges of violating the law on the punishment of stalking crimes.

When Mr. A stalked a female B (34), a junior police officer, in July and August and was reported, he told another junior police officer, female C (34), "Convince Mr. B not to proceed with the investigation." He is accused of coercing and then ending in an attempt.

In addition, Mr. A is also accused of sending obscene messages to Mr. C in 2019.

Mr. A is currently on leave.

The prosecution, which had previously taken over the case from the police, conducted supplementary investigations such as digital forensics on Mr. A's mobile phone, and then extended the ban on access to the victims to block access for six months.

Meanwhile, according to the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office, a total of 36 stalking offenders in the Daegu area were charged, including Mr. A, from last September to this month.

Of these, 14 were arrested and indicted, and 22 were indicted without detention.

Separately, the prosecution requested the court to take provisional measures to detain 13 stalking offenders with a high risk of recidivism, such as threatening a lover who broke up in September with a weapon.

An official from the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office said, "If a stalking offender is sentenced to probation, we plan to convey our opinion to the court to order probation to guide and supervise behavior together." I will do my best," he said.
