Yesterday (27th) morning in Yangyang, Gangwon-do, a helicopter that was flying over a forest fire crashed into a hill, killing five people.

It turned out that the 47-year-old old helicopter was boarded more than the number of people written in the flight plan.

Along with black smoke, a pillar of fire soars.

Residents arrive at the scene of the accident and try to turn off the lights, but are helpless.

It was around 10:50 a.m. yesterday when a report was received that a forest fire fighting helicopter had crashed in a hill in Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun.

Residents say they heard a forest fire warning broadcast, and a few seconds later the helicopter crashed.

[Helicopter crash witness: You're broadcasting forest fires, I thought.

And after a while, there was a 'bang' and black smoke rose right away.] At

the scene, five passengers, including the helicopter pilot and mechanic, were found dead.

However, it was revealed that the flight plan submitted to the Yangyang Airport Branch of the Seoul Regional Aviation Administration at around 8:51 a.m., before take-off, had only the captain and one person on board.

[Seoul Regional Aviation Administration official: (Flight time) was scheduled for 3 hours.

((Boarding) There were only two people? One other than the captain?) Yes, that's right.

1 person.

The purpose of the flight is to monitor forest fires.]

The scene of the three additional people boarding the accident helicopter was later confirmed on Sokcho mooring CCTV, but the identities of two of the five people have not yet been identified because the bodies were heavily damaged.

In addition, it is known that the accident helicopter is an old model produced in 1975, 47 years ago, so it is known that the flight recorder, FDR, called a black box, is not installed.

The police and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which held the first joint forensic inspection yesterday, will continue the on-site forensic inspection today, while also conducting DNA investigations of the two unidentified dead.
