At the National Assembly Administrative Safety Committee's Budget and Settlement Fund Review Subcommittee held yesterday (9th), Rep. Lee Seong-man of the Democratic Party of Korea announced that the budget for next year's (2023) police department was completely cut.

In the government budget for 2023, the budget for the police department of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security consists of 209 million won for basic expenses and 394 million won for personnel expenses assigned to the police department.

Assemblyman Lee Seong-man (Incheon Bupyeong-gap Administrative Safety Committee) argued that the budget should be completely cut because the Ministry of Public Administration and Security was established without a legal basis in the budget subordinate.

As a result, the budget bill in which the total basic expenses of 209 million won and labor costs were reduced by 394 million won was approved by the budget subordinate.

Rep. Lee Seong-man said, "I explained that when the police department is established, a command system will be created that connects the president, prime minister, minister of the Interior and Security, and the National Police Agency. As it was originally made as an illegal amendment to the enforcement ordinance, we cut the budget in its entirety to correct it.”
