The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that the Yongsan Police Station had set up an investigation headquarters for the Itaewon crushing disaster and started a full-scale investigation into the cause of the accident.



The police plan to find out what the cause of the accident was with the reporter, eyewitnesses, and officials from nearby businesses, as a large crowd gathered and the scene quickly became a mess.



In addition, we plan to examine whether the competent local government has taken precautionary measures in advance.



As of 10 a.m. that day, 151 people were killed in the massacre that took place in Itaewon the night before.



Nineteen of those injured are said to be seriously injured, and the death toll could rise further.



The Yongsan Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Itaewon, immediately convened all employees immediately after the accident and mobilized 100 personnel including security, traffic, and detectives to fix the scene.



The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also dispatched detectives and police officers from six nearby police stations.



With the deputy chief of the National Police Agency as the head of the headquarters, the Disaster Response Headquarters has been formed to identify casualties and support the bereaved and victims.
