As you can see, even with the enforcement of the Act on Punishment of Serious Accidents, industrial accidents do not cease.

Moreover, small businesses are out of the law and are in the blind spot for safety management. Yesterday (27th) in an apartment in Busan, 40 people who were painting the exterior wall fell and died.

The same accident happened two months ago.

This is KNN reporter Lee Min-jae.

An apartment building in Gupo-dong, Buk-gu, Busan.

At around 3:40 pm yesterday, Mr. A in his 40s, who was painting while hanging from the 7th to 8th floors of this apartment, fell and died.

This is the site of the accident where Mr. A crashed.

Fallen paint cans, helmets, and leftover shoes and glasses suggest the horror at the time of the accident.

The main line used for climbing up and down the wall and the auxiliary line for fall prevention were all installed, and there were no signs of breakage or damage.

The police are investigating various possibilities, such as whether Mr. A did not put a safety hook on the auxiliary rope or damaged equipment.

[Han Jong-moo / Busan Bukbu Police Station Criminal Division Manager: It was confirmed that the assistant was at the scene, and the National Forensic Research Institute was asked to determine whether the assistant rope had a safety hook.]

In this apartment, two months ago, the same company B, in his 40s, who was painting with , fell from the 13th floor and died when the rope broke.

Residents cannot hide their sadness.

[Apartment resident: Oh, this is the second time.

She had previously said that he had just married her.

It hurts her heart to die.

What should I do about this?]

It was confirmed that the companies that had a series of crashes were not subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act as they were workplaces with fewer than 50 employees.

Meanwhile, the police said they are considering applying for an arrest warrant, saying that they will conduct a strict investigation into whether or not there is a negligence on the job as human casualties due to safety accidents are repeated.
