A worker died after being buried at a sewer pipe construction site in Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The Gyeonggi Yangju Police Station announced today (28th) that a man in his 60s who was working at a sewer pipe construction site in Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, was buried and died while the ground suddenly went out during construction around 10:20 am.
The construction has been in progress since 2019 as a maintenance work for the Cheongdamcheon and Hoeamcheon Streams ordered by Yangju City.
The construction was carried out by Suji General Construction and supervision by KG Engineering, and the deceased worker was known as the supervisor.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and compliance with safety obligations against Yangju City, construction companies, and supervisory companies.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor is also reviewing whether the project is subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
