A worker in his 50s drowned at the construction site of the World Cup Bridge in Seoul, and labor authorities have launched an investigation into the Serious Accident Punishment Act.



Today (24th) around 9:10 am, two workers who were working at the construction site of a temporary bridge across the Anyangcheon at the southern end of the World Cup Bridge in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul fell into the water.



They are said to have been in an accident when the facility overturned while installing a fall protection net on a floating facility for work.



One of them got out of the water on their own, and A, a 50-year-old male employee of a subcontractor, was rescued from cardiac arrest, but eventually died.



The construction company in charge of the construction is Samsung C&T, which is subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.



After identifying the accident, the Ministry of Labor dispatched labor inspectors from the Metropolitan Disaster Management Division of the Seoul Office and the Industrial Accident Prevention Guidance Division of the Southern Branch of Seoul to the site.



After suspending work, the Ministry of Labor is investigating the cause of the accident while investigating whether there is a violation of the Serious Accident Punishment Act and Occupational Safety and Health Act.
