A public official in his 50s who habitually illegally filmed the body parts of a female passenger in the Seoul subway was arrested and handed over to the prosecution.

It turned out that the official was a high-ranking public official equivalent to the director-general of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Subway Police Department announced today (24th) that it had sent a senior public official A (58) from the Ministry of Health and Welfare to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 12th of this month for violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (photographing using cameras, etc.).

A is accused of secretly filming a part of a specific body part of a female passenger at the platform of Seoul Subway Line 7 in early August.

At that time, the police considered Mr. A's behavior suspicious of following a female passenger with a cell phone, and arrested Mr. A as a current criminal after working undercover.

As a result of the police confiscating mobile phones and conducting forensics, it is known that many videos of female passengers were illegally filmed for over a year from the beginning of this year.

Immediately after the incident, Mr. A was placed on standby, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, who was notified of the results of the police investigation, dismissed Mr. A on the 17th.

An official from the Ministry of Health and Welfare said, "Strict measures will be taken against the person concerned, such as requesting the Central Disciplinary Committee for a disciplinary decision."

On the other hand, Mr. A was in charge of quarantine tasks such as securing beds for patients in the early stages of the spread of Corona, and was recently mentioned as a candidate for the Vice Minister of Health and Welfare.
