These are internal data of Kakao and SK C&C obtained by SBS reporters.

The details of how the two companies responded to the fire at the Pangyo data center in Gyeonggi Province on the 15th are detailed.

According to these data, the fire alarm went off at 3:19 and three minutes later, at 3:22 pm, the fire extinguisher connected to the fire detector was activated.

At 3:27, Kakao recognized that an overall service failure had occurred.

At 3:33, SK C&C reported to the fire department according to the internal response manual.

Kakao first announced a service failure at 3:52, but did not know the reason at this time.

It was only after Kakao contacted SK C & C by wire at 4:03 that he confirmed that the data center was on fire.

It's been 44 minutes since the smoke alarm went off.

The service restoration work started after another 10 minutes, and traffic distribution processing started after receiving a notice from SK C&C to cut off the power for watering.

[Lim Jong-in / Distinguished Professor, Graduate School of Information Security, Korea University: In a situation where data centers are getting bigger, we need to upgrade and train the suppression method (such things), but we lacked expertise.]

SK C&C did not notify Kakao at the beginning of the fire and only shared internal information. He explained that he did, but changed his official position to convey the fact of the fire to customers such as Kakao.

On the other hand, Kakao maintained its position that it did not know about the fire until it first contacted SK C&C.

[Ko Min-jeong / Member of Science and Technology Information and Broadcasting and Communications Commission: The key is to respond quickly by transparently sharing the contents of a major disaster.

It was a situation that would cause great inconvenience to all the people, but both sides lacked efforts to correct it.]

The police, who collected the battery module that started the fire and conducted a detailed analysis, plan to investigate the initial response to the fire.
