"The defendant, who has the responsibility to protect and nurture his children, killed a victim who was only four years old, without any fault, based on the false perception that children were his property and that the life of his children would be unhappy after his death. It's something I was going to do."

The court sentenced A (37) to two years and six months in prison for trying to kill a four-year-old son during probation, saying it was difficult due to the hardships of living and parenting stress.

He also ordered a three-year restriction on employment in child-related organizations.

Mr. A was put on trial on the 11th of October last year around midnight on the charge of trying to murder his 4-year-old son at his residence in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.

At that time, Mr. A was in a state of drunkenness and tried to make an extreme choice, but when it did not go his way, it was confirmed that he called 911 and asked for help for his son.

It was investigated that Mr. A decided to commit the crime when he suffered from hardship and parenting stress while raising his son alone since July 2017.

Also, in September 2019, he was investigated for violating the Child Welfare Act (child neglect and neglect) while leaving his 2-year-old son at home alone.

In this case, Mr. A was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation in July of this year.

The court said, "The crime is very poor in light of the fact that it is an extreme form of child abuse crime wrapped up in the parent's unilateral goodwill." The fact that he has a history of being punished multiple times is unfavorable to the accused."

"The sentence was decided in consideration of the fact that the defendant drank about 6 bottles of soju at the time of the crime and was intoxicated, and his normal judgment ability was impaired."
