The Seoul Metropolitan Government has started preparatory work to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, and it has been found that citizens are optimistic about it, but are also concerned about the economic loss.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said last month that, as a result of asking 1,000 adult men and women living in Seoul, 7 out of 10 respondents said they agreed to host the Summer Olympics.

Citizens expected that if the Olympics were held in Seoul, foreign tourism would be revitalized.

But there were also concerns.

The biggest concern was the economic loss caused by the large-scale deficit, and the use of the stadium and traffic congestion after the competition were also cited as problems.

Accordingly, the Seoul Metropolitan Government explained that by using the 88 Olympic and international sports facilities currently in use and jointly using facilities in the Incheon Gyeonggi area, the investment in facilities, which accounts for about half of the cost, can be minimized.

Previously, the city of Seoul had promoted the bid to host the Olympics with the goal of co-hosting Seoul and Pyongyang in 2032, but it was canceled as it was confirmed to be Brisbane, Australia last year.

Since then, Seoul has changed its route alone and is trying to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.
