A man in his 50s, who served 20 years in prison for committing child sex crimes and murder, was arrested and charged with sexual assault again one year after his release.

On the 18th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Women's and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit announced that on the 27th of last month, a man in his 50s was arrested and sent for violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Assault Crimes (injury such as sexual assault) and violating the Stalking Punishment Act.

Then, the prosecution indicted Mr. A on the 6th.

At the dawn of the 15th of last month, Mr. A is accused of sexually assaulting Mr. B, who was her acquaintance, by calling him to his home.

He is also accused of stalking, such as assaulting B and sending text messages several times after the crime.

However, during the police investigation, it was newly revealed that Mr. A was a former criminal of child sex crimes and murder.

Previously, A was sent to trial on charges of rape and mutilation for committing a sexual offense against a 9-year-old child in 1996.

However, three years later, in 1999, during the probation period, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the second trial on charges of killing a woman in her 30s while driving under the influence of a vehicle and then leaving her body (murder, abandonment, misuse of a body). .

After that, Mr. A finished his 20-year sentence and was released in September last year.

On the other hand, it was confirmed that Mr. A was not subject to disclosure of his/her identity and wearing an electronic anklet, which was confirmed to have committed a crime before the introduction of the sex offender's identity disclosure system in 2006 and the electronic anklet law in 2008.

As a result, it is known that the victim and those around him were not aware of Mr. A's criminal history.
