The court sentenced a man in his 40s to a suspended sentence for making a false report to the Coast Guard, saying, "A fishing boat with 14 people is sinking."

Today (18th), Ulsan District Court Detective 2 single sentenced Mr. A (44), who was charged with obstruction of hierarchical execution of public duties, 1 year in prison and 2 years of probation, and ordered 120 hours of community service and probation.

Mr. A, who was watching TV at his home in Ulsan last November, saw a scene in the news where a marine police officer rescued a drowning person.

After that, Mr. A called the Ulsan Maritime Police Station and made a false report saying, "I am the chief of a fishing boat, and a boat with 14 people collided with a tidal rock off Seuldo and was sinking."

A Coast Guard patrol boat and 20 personnel were dispatched to the scene to search for about 1 hour and 40 minutes, which was identified as a false report by Mr. A.

As a result of the police investigation, Mr. A was usually dissatisfied with the fact that he was paid less than other team members while working as a daily worker, but it was found that he did this while drunk.

The court said, "The quality of the crime is not good because many police officers are dispatched to the scene due to a false report of the sinking of a ship and do meaningless search and rescue work." It was summed up,” he said, explaining the reason for the sentencing.
