KakaoTalk was paralyzed by a data center fire last weekend, and now most of it has been restored, but some functions are still stopped.

We will connect with our reporters who are out of the field to find out more about the news.

Reporter Park Se-won, I heard that there are some functions that have not worked until now, when will all of them be restored?

<Reporter>

I am standing in front of the Pangyo SK C&C building where the Kakao Data Center is located.

It's been four days since the fire broke out on the 3rd basement floor of the data center, and the Kakao service has not yet been fully normalized.

Among all services, 11 services, including Kakao Bank, Kakao T, and Kakao Webtoon, have been restored.

However, Kakao Talk's 'Talk Channel', which automatically stores conversations, and some functions of Kakao Pay, 'Talk Drawer', etc. are still being restored.

The next email, which has not been normalized yet, will be restored by today (18th), Kakao said.

Kakao said that service normalization can be accelerated when data center power recovery, which is currently at 95% level, is completed.

So, the power recovery level in the fire area is about 95%, which means that it can only be restored to normal.

<Reporter>

Yes, SK C&C said it would restore 100% of data center power by tomorrow.

Power supply units damaged by the fire in the electrical room on the 3rd basement floor must be replaced one by one.

In the meantime, recovery has not been accelerated due to material supply and demand problems, but SK C&C explains that all materials will be replaced by today.

In this way, power supply will be completed for 9,000 of the 32,000 data center servers whose recovery is delayed.

Kakao said that even after the data center server restoration work is complete, it is not yet possible to specify when the service restoration will be completed.
