Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, and Choi Jeong-hee, Mayor of Gyeonggi Province, held an emergency press conference today (14th) and said, "I have confirmed that child rapist Kim Geun-sik is going to be admitted to the Korea Justice Protection and Welfare Service under the Ministry of Justice, a rehabilitation facility in Uijeongbu."
Mayor Kim emphasized, "I have confirmed this information from a government agency this morning," and emphasized, "I will strongly demand that the Minister of Justice withdraw the designation for admission to the Uijeongbu rehabilitation facility."
Chairman Choi added, "This afternoon, the city council will hold a rally in solidarity with parents' groups and oppose Kim Geun-sik's admission to the Uijeongbu rehabilitation facility."
Mayor Kim is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Justice this afternoon.
Kim Geun-sik served 15 years in prison for raping 11 minors in the metropolitan area from May to September 2006, and was released on the 17th.
