A 60-year-old man who killed the restaurant owner with a knife for 'ignoring himself' and seriously injured the owner of a pub was sentenced to life in prison.

The Chuncheon District Court's Gangneung Branch Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Lee Dong-hee) announced on the 6th that A (61), who was charged with murder and attempted murder, was sentenced to life in prison.

Mr. A killed Mr. B, a woman in her 50s, by swinging a knife at a restaurant in Gangneung, Gangwon-do around 5 pm on June 30th.

Immediately after the crime, Mr. A moved to a pub about 1.6 km from the restaurant and was handed over to trial on charges of attempting to kill Mr.

As a result of the police investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A had acquaintance with the victims, including Mr. B, who died.

Person A stated, "I thought that Mr. C was ignoring me, so I decided to kill him, but when her shop was closed, I heard a pin from Mr. B while drinking at Mr. B's shop and committed her crime." turned out to be done.

In the courtroom, Mr. A claimed that he was diagnosed with a level 3 mental disorder in 2004 and received psychiatric treatment.

However, although the court acknowledged this point, it was determined that he was not in a state of infirmity at the time of the crime.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "He committed a terrible crime for very trivial reasons of ignoring him, he has a history of being punished for attempted murder in 2010, and the bereaved family wants a strong punishment."

He also added, "The attempted murder was only attempted because the blade fell out, and it is necessary to protect society from the accused rather than assessing the state of mental and physical weakness," he added.
