Yesterday (the 4th), I told you in detail at Joo Young-jin's news briefing.

Didn't the government take measures yesterday to solve the taxi ride problem?

However, a survey result showed that more than half of the taxi drivers in Seoul are opposed to the current taxi management system.

Reporter Yoo Deok-gi explains what it is about in detail.

Unlike the existing private payment system, where drivers pay a certain amount of transportation income to the company and take the rest, the taxi management system is a system in which the entire amount of income is paid to the company and wages are received in the form of monthly wages.

It has been fully implemented since January 2020 to improve the treatment of taxi drivers.

The departure of taxi drivers has accelerated as COVID-19 has also overlapped.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government, who believed that the total taxi management system was at the root of the taxi crisis in Seoul, conducted a survey on the conditions of 254 companies and 23,397 employees in the corporate taxi industry in Seoul last month.

As a result of the survey, about 65% of the 7,400 corporate taxi drivers who responded to the survey answered that they oppose the total taxi management system.

Of the 175 taxi companies that responded to the survey, about 90% expressed an objection.

As reasons for opposing the full management system, taxi drivers mainly cited excessive wages, labor-management squads, high standard payments, and increased overhead costs.

As for the remuneration system required for manpower inflow, 43% of taxi drivers who responded said that they preferred flat-rate, and 64% of taxi companies preferred the lease system, which lends corporate taxi licenses to individuals.

As a result of this investigation, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said that it was necessary to prepare a wage structure that could take incentives as long as the drivers worked hard.
