A man in his 60s who got drunk and threw a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) barrel into a fire and even assaulted the police was sentenced to prison.

The Chuncheon Tribunal of the Seoul High Court announced on the 3rd that the first criminal division (Chief Judge Hwang Seung-tae) dismissed the appeal filed by Mr. A (60), who was charged with attempted rupture of explosives, and sentenced him to one year in prison, the same as the original trial.

Mr. A was handed over to trial on the 21st of February on the charge of trying to rupture by putting two LP gas cylinders into the fire after getting drunk in the yard of his house in Yeongwol-gun and setting fire to paper boxes.

At that time, a police officer who received a report of "making a fire and making a fuss" asked Mr.

But he said, "What's the matter with making a fire in the front yard of my house?" Instead, he put a gas cylinder into the fire.

In addition to the charges of attempted rupture of explosives by swinging fists at police officers who took out LP gas cylinders out of the fire to prevent dangerous situations such as explosions, charges of obstruction of justice and personal injury were added.

The Yeongwol Branch of the Chuncheon District Court, who was in charge of the first trial, was sentenced to death by combining the fact that a gas cylinder was expected to pose a significant risk and that he assaulted and injured a police officer even though he had been punished for several violent crimes.

At the appeals court, Mr. A asked for forgiveness, saying, "I will not commit a crime again and live faithfully."

On the other hand, according to Article 172 of the Criminal Act, 'Explosives Explosives', a person who ruptures a boiler, high-pressure gas, or other explosive object, causing danger to human life, body, or property, shall be punished by fixed-term imprisonment of at least one year.

This means that the risk of harm, whether or not actual harm to life, body or property, is punishable.

In addition, as with the crime of using explosives, the crime of rupture of explosives has a separate provision to punish all attempts, preparations, and conspiracies.
