It was found that some household chemical products banned by the Ministry of Environment for violating safety standards, such as the use of raw materials for humidifier disinfectants, are still in circulation.

According to the data received from the Ministry of Environment by Rep. Seong-Jun Jin of the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee, there were 123 household chemical products for which the Ministry of Environment issued an order to ban manufacture and sale and recall from December last year to June this year for violating safety standards.

However, as a result of checking with Assemblyman Jin's office, 7 products were still easily available at online shopping malls.

One automobile interior material management agent said that it was confirmed that although methylisothiazolinone (MIT), which should not be detected, was sold at 46 to 53 mg per 1 kg, it was still sold at several online shopping malls.

MIT is one of the raw materials for humidifier disinfectants.

One pen-type product that fills gaps in tiles in bathrooms was still sold even though it was banned because 4,580 g of aluminum, which should not be detected, was detected in 1 kg.

Methyl methacrylate (MMA), which is also the standard for non-detection, was sold as an eyelash adhesive with 280 mg per 1 kg.

Rep. Jin insisted, "We should not only order a ban and recall, but also strengthen sanctions when the order is violated and prepare a system to block products that have already been distributed."
