Last year, it was found that among Korean adults, there were 1.29 million so-called millionaires with assets of 1 million dollars or about 1.4 billion Korean won.

Credit Suisse, a global investment bank, calculated this in the recently released 'Global Wealth Report 2022', which is an increase of 116,000 from 1174,000 in 2020.

The number of super-high net worth of more than 50 million dollars and about 70 billion won was also counted as the 11th largest after the United States, China and Germany.

In addition, as of the end of last year, the average wealth per adult in Korea was estimated at about 330 million won, and the median asset value was estimated at about 130 million won.

The report assessed that Korea's wealth inequality was relatively low, partly reflecting a more egalitarian income distribution, as well as a relatively heavy inheritance tax.
