Turkiye has the world's longest suspension bridge, Canakale Bridge, which opened in March of this year.

This bridge, built by large Korean construction companies, is meaningful in many ways, and the domestic partner who participated in the construction is having a hard time getting paid even after working.

Reporter Han Sang-woo covered what happened.

Canakkale Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 3.5 km and 6 lanes round-trip.

Korea's DL ENC and SK Eco Plant successfully opened after four years of construction.

[Kim Bu-gyeom/Former Prime Minister (Last March, Turkiye): It has a special meaning for both peoples of both countries in that it is a world-class bridge that Turkey and Korea created together.]

However, the domestic Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing financial difficulties.

[CEO of Canakkale Bridge Construction Subcontractor: It was an honor to be part of the construction there.

I would like to say that the current situation is Tosagupin.]

The construction that should have been completed in November last year was extended and the work continued until this month, after the bridge was opened.

The company has requested to change the contract and pay for the extension work several times, but DL and SK postponed even the confirmation of the construction price for nearly a year, saying that the cost should be carefully considered.

In the end, the company requested mediation from the Korean Fair Trade Conciliation Agency and sent an appeal to the Korean Embassy in Turkey, but the problem has not been resolved.

If it was in Korea, it can be easily solved because the contract for payment must be signed before the start of additional construction in order to prevent the main contractor from changing the word after the work is finished.

The problem is that the overseas corporation created by DL and SK together with a local company in Turkiye is legally the original contractor.

[Lee Joo-heon / Attorney: In a subcontract to which a corporation established abroad is a party, the Act on Fair Subcontracting cannot be applied in Korea, so it is exposed to the risk of not receiving legal protection.]

DL and SK He said that the payment was delayed because there was a disagreement over the responsibility for the extension of the deadline, and he said that he would faithfully work with the adjustment in the future.
