Moderna's improved vaccine is called a bivalent vaccine because it simultaneously responds to the original coronavirus and BA.1, or early micron mutation.

Seniors over 60 years old, immunocompromised, and residents and workers in nursing homes and homeless facilities are the first to meet.

You can make a reservation in advance from the 27th and get vaccinated from the 11th of the next month.

It is recommended to get vaccinated 4 months after the last vaccination or the last confirmed case.

Advance reservations are not available for those in their 50s, the second priority for vaccination, those with underlying medical conditions, and medical workers, but they can still be vaccinated on the day of the remaining vaccine starting from the 11th of the next month.

The bivalent vaccine was approved in major countries such as Switzerland, Australia, Europe and the United States, starting with the UK on the 15th of last month.

Compared to the existing vaccine, the Moderna bivalent vaccine has 1.22 times greater ability to make neutralizing antibodies for the original coronavirus, 1.75 times greater for BA.1 mutation, and 1.69 times greater for BA.5, the current dominant species in Korea.

The types of adverse reactions are similar to those of conventional vaccines, including injection site pain and fatigue, but the incidence is lower, health officials said.
