A parent who was handed over to trial for causing a physical development disorder by neglecting to change a child's diaper after going to the toilet was also sentenced to probation in the appeals court.

Daejeon High Court Criminal Division 1-2 (Chief Judge Baek Seung-yeop) dismissed the prosecution's appeal and upheld the lower court's judgment in the appeals trial against A (27) and B (25), who were charged with child abuse and serious injury on the 16th. kept it.

In October last year, the court sentenced the couple, each accused of violating the Child Welfare Act, to one year in prison and two years of probation.

Mr. A and his wife left her child in unsanitary conditions, such as not changing or washing the diaper of her 9-month-old daughter, at their residence in Jung-gu, Daejeon, in 2017.

They took him to the hospital only after hearing about other family members saying, "The baby's leg looks sore", and the child was diagnosed with suppurative inflammation of the right hip.

The disease is caused by a bacterial infection, and as a result of the investigation, it was found that the child had a severe rash caused by a fungal infection in the diaper area.

The child's right hip bone partially melted due to inflammation, and the medical staff made a diagnosis that "it is difficult to treat right away because the disease has worsened" or "it may not be able to walk well due to after-effects."

At that time, the prosecution revealed that the child had been living a life that changes day and night, such as sleeping during the day and waking up at night since she was 1 month old.

On the other hand, the court said, "We are maintaining the original sentence in consideration of the fact that we have more children to raise," and "the defendants need to think about what it means to be a parent."
