Ex-police officers in the Busan area who gave information about the death case to the funeral director and were entertained at the room salon were sentenced to probation in prison.

Judge Choi Ji-young, the 4th independent criminal of the Busan District Court, announced on the 19th that he had sentenced former police officer A to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation, charged with providing information on the location of the death case to a specific funeral company.

Former police officers B and C charged with the same charge were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 3 years of probation respectively.

According to the verdict, Mr. A, who worked at a police station in Busan, was handed over to trial on the charge of giving information about the location of the death case, which was confidential to the job, to a funeral service provider 28 times from May 2018 to May 2020.

In the process of handling the death case in Busanjin-gu in July 2017, Mr. A first got to know Mr. D, a funeral director who runs a local hospital funeral home.

D, who got acquainted with Mr. A, asked, "If there is an accident of death, please contact me."

Accepting this, Mr. A informed the funeral service provider of the location of the death incident, which was confidential for the job, a total of 28 times from May to May 2020.

It was revealed that Mr. D, who received the location information of the deceased, arrived at the scene earlier than other companies, contacted his bereaved family, and was able to move the body to the funeral home to collect profits.

Meanwhile, Mr. B, who belongs to the same police station, also informed the funeral service provider of the location of the death case 45 times from October 2018 to December 2019.

Mr. C, who worked at another police station, was also indicted on the charge of giving and receiving information about his death 16 times from February 2019 to July of the same year.

All three men were fired from their police posts as a result of this incident.

The court said, "This case is an act that undermines trust in all police officers, and the quality of the crime is very poor." said.
