The expected extinction time of the 14th typhoon 'Nanmadol', which is heading north, has been delayed for half a day, but the Meteorological Agency predicted that it was stronger.

The Korea Meteorological Administration re-released the predicted route of Nan Madol through an announcement at 10 pm yesterday (16th).

As of 9:00 pm yesterday, Nanmadol is moving at a speed of 21 km per hour in the northwest direction from the sea about 700 km southeast of Okinawa.

It is a “very strong” typhoon with a central pressure of 930 hPa and a maximum wind speed of 53 m/sec.

In the announcement at 4 pm, just before 3 pm, the central pressure was 950 hPa and the maximum wind speed was 43 m per second, which is stronger than the “strong” class.

There is no significant change in the course of traveling northwest to Kyushu, Japan, as indicated in the previous forecast, and then changing the route to ride the northern seas of the Japanese archipelago.

The center of the typhoon penetrates Japan, but as the radius of the strong wind reaches 430 km, Jeju Island from the afternoon of the 18th and Busan and Gyeongnam on the 19th are expected to be directly affected by the typhoon.

It is expected to approach the western coast of Kyushu at around 9 pm tomorrow, and from this point on, the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula, including Jeju Seogwipo, is also expected to fall under the influence of the typhoon.

Then, in the process of moving from Kyushu to Honshu by 9 pm on the 19th, it may be affected as far as the southern inland regions such as Busan.

Accordingly, the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that strong rain and wind would be expected in Jeju and southern regions on the 18th and 19th.

Nanmadol is expected to disappear after turning into a temperate cyclone on the evening of the 20th in the sea 430 km northeast of Sendai, Japan, that is, just southeast of Hokkaido.

The time of extinction was delayed by about half a day compared to the previous announcement at 4 pm yesterday, which predicted that it would disappear in the sea 680 km northeast of Sapporo on the 21st.
