In 2006, Kim Geun-sik sexually assaulted 11 minors in Gyeonggi-do, Incheon.

The news that he will be released on the 17th of next month after serving 15 years in prison, residents of the past crime area complain of anxiety.

[Incheon Citizen: First of all, my eldest daughter works part-time and comes in at 12 pm, but here I am waiting at the door every day.

I'm also anxious, so I hope you don't watch it.]

The Ministry of Justice has decided to expand treatment and detention to prevent recidivism of child sex offenders like Kim Geun-sik.

Child sex offenders can request treatment and probation before the end of pleadings at the appeals court, but it will be changed to be possible even after being released from prison.

[Han Dong-hoon/Minister of Justice: The purpose is to strongly protect children, the most vulnerable children that our society must protect, from heinous criminals.]

Among sex offenders targeting children under the age of 13 who were ordered to wear electronic anklets, pedophilia and concerns about recidivism were recognized. , in case of violating probation requirements, they will be subject to follow-up treatment and supervision.

In order to minimize the controversy over the violation of fundamental rights, if all three conditions are met, the request for probation will be requested.

In addition, if there is a high risk of recidivism, the period of treatment can be extended without limit, which is a stronger measure than treatment for murderers, which can only be extended up to three times within two years.

Separately from the expansion of treatment detention, the Ministry of Justice said that Kim Geun-sik will be obliged to refrain from contacting women under the age of 19 after being released from prison, and will have a dedicated staff to monitor her 24 hours a day.
