An elderly man with dementia in his 90s who went missing in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, returned to his family safely after 8 hours of disappearance thanks to the activity of 'Ravi', a dog that found evidence.



Evidence collection dogs are special purpose dogs trained to detect suspects or evidence by smell at crime or disappearance sites.



Today (15th), Gyeongsangnam-do Geoje Police Station announced that they found Mr. A (93), who was missing at the 4th ridge of Sanbangsan Mountain in Dundeok-myeon, Geoje-si around 4 pm the day before.



Earlier, the police received a report from Mr. A's son that 'the father was mowing grass and disappeared while moving'. 



Accordingly, the search, which started around 7 o'clock the day before, mobilized two evidence dogs, 15 police officers, and 20 firefighters to intensively search the cemetery and valley near the place of disappearance.

It was confirmed that Mr. A had no major health problems other than exhaustion. 



'Ravi', who made a big contribution to the rescue of Mr. A, is a two-year-old male Labrador Retriever. After taking the first step as a dog for evidence in January of last year, he and Inspector Jinkyun Choi, who is the handler in charge, have been discharged from Gyeongnam for 1 year and 8 months. is active in
