The Center Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF) in Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne) was the target of a cyberattack on August 21.
The hackers, who encrypted and stole a lot of personal data, are now demanding a ransom, reports
Le Parisien
.
The attack was finally claimed on Monday by Lockbit, a group of Russian-speaking hackers.
On their darknet site, the hackers claimed to be behind the cyberattack and demanded a million dollar ransom for the deletion or redemption of the stolen data.

The hospital did not respond to this ransom demand.
According to the hackers, the CHSF would however have an annual income of 650 million euros.
"This company does not care about the distribution of care cards, medical histories or diagnoses of its patients," Lockbit laments.
To increase the pressure, the hackers published some stolen documents, including exchanges with the administration and invoices from service providers.
According to the prefect, the hospital is still functional despite the attack and is already working to rebuild its computer system.
