Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju, which suffered heavy damage from Typhoon Hinnamno, were declared special disaster zones.
The presidential office said, "President Yun Seok-yeol first declared the two areas as special disaster zones immediately after returning to the Yongsan presidential office after a visit to the Pohang and Gyeongju sites yesterday."
The government plans to declare other areas as a special disaster area as soon as the requirements are met through a damage investigation.
