Nine missing residents were found in the underground parking lot of the Pohang apartment complex that was flooded by the typhoon.

Two were rescued, but seven eventually died.

A reporter is at the hospital where survivors are being treated.

Reporter Shin Yong-shik, tell us about the situation.

<Reporter>

Yes, I am in front of St. Mary's Hospital in Pohang.

The survivors who were rescued yesterday (the 6th) are resting in this hospital that I can see behind me now.

Two people were rescued.

First of all, a man in his 30s who was hanging from a pipe installed on the ceiling of an underground parking lot was rescued at around 8 pm yesterday.

At around 9:40 pm, a woman in her 50s was also found by the rescue team with her body on the pipe.

All the survivors were said to have survived for over 14 hours, breathing between the ceiling and the plumbing, but fortunately, the progress was not bad and there are no health problems other than hypothermia.

So, is there any possibility of additional discovery?

<Reporter>

Yes, so far, nine people have been rescued.

Seven of them died, with the exception of two survivors.

Currently, more than 85% of the drainage work in the underground parking lot has been carried out.

The fire department said that the search personnel searched the inside of the parking lot in a 'trawl net' method, which stood in a line and scanned the interior.

He explained that he carefully checked whether there were any missing persons trapped in the car, but that no additional missing persons were found other than the nine who were rescued.

However, as two more people not on the list have been found in addition to the seven people who were initially reported missing, the possibility of additional missing persons cannot be ruled out.

Earlier, the missing people heard a broadcast from the management office saying, 'Remove the car from the underground parking lot' at around 6:30 am yesterday, and went down to move the car and had an accident.

At that time, the Pohang area was in a situation where it was raining at a rate of 110 millimeters per hour due to the influence of Hinnamno.

The fire department plans to finish all relevant work and announce the search results by this morning at the latest.
