It has been found that the prosecution is investigating the situation in which former Gyeonggi-do Peace Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young received billions of dollars in money from the Ssang Bul-Bul group.



The Suwon District Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating allegations of corruption in the SsangBall Group, has been confirmed to be investigating the situation after the former Lieutenant Governor Lee received billions of dollars in money from the SsangBul group while serving as the deputy governor.



It is known that part of the funds received by the former Lieutenant Governor was used as a corporate card.



Former Lieutenant Governor Lee was appointed as an outside director with a three-year term from 2017, but resigned as an outside director in June 2018 when Democratic Party leader Jae-myung Lee was elected as Gyeonggi Governor, and served as Gyeonggi Peace Vice Governor from August of the same year.



Prosecutors searched and seized the Gyeonggi Provincial Office's northern government complex today, Kintex, where former Lieutenant Governor Lee was the president, and the office of the Asia-Pacific Peace Exchange Association, which conducted projects with Gyeonggi-do, in connection with the alleged bribery of former Lieutenant Governor Lee.



Former Lieutenant Governor Lee was reported to a media outlet in November of last year to be accused of using the Ssangboll corporate card even after he resigned as an outside director.



Former Lieutenant Governor Lee denied the allegations of using corporate cards at the time.



SBS tried to contact the former Lieutenant Governor Lee to hear the position of the former Lieutenant Governor regarding the prosecution's investigation, but the former Lieutenant Governor Lee turned off the phone and did not answer.
