The fire department is working on drainage after reports of eight people missing while going to an underground parking lot in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where heavy rain fell under the influence of the 11th typhoon 'Hinnamno' and flooded the downtown area.



According to the city of Pohang and the fire department today (6th), at around 9:11 am today, I went to get a car in the underground parking lot of an apartment in Indeok-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, but there was a report that there was no contact, so the fire department is working on drainage to search.



Pohang city and fire authorities estimate that seven people are missing.



The apartment's underground parking lot was flooded by heavy rain and the fire department is currently working on drainage.



According to the fire department, these residents appear to have disappeared after going out to move their vehicles after an announcement from the management office telling them to move their vehicles in the underground parking lot around 6:30 am.



A firefighter official said, "The parking lot is on the first basement floor, and the water is currently full and the drainage work has been done about 10%.



At the same time, around 9:46 am, reports from family members that they lost contact after leaving to move their vehicle to the underground parking lot of another apartment complex in Nam-gu, Pohang, came in, and the fire department is searching for drainage.



Fire officials believe the missing person is a 66-year-old woman.



Earlier, at around 7:36 am, an unidentified man in Indeok-dong, Pohang City requested rescue, and firefighters arrived at the scene, but contact was lost.



Firefighters searched the area but did not find the missing person.
