“I had to run out of the stairs of the underground parking lot, but the yellow earth water poured like a waterfall and I couldn’t get out on my own.

A 62-year-old resident, who managed to save his life in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Indeok-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, that was flooded by heavy rain brought by Typhoon Hinnamno yesterday (6th), recalled the dire situation and said, "I I didn't know I was going to suffer," he said.

A, a resident of this apartment complex, said, "I went to the underground parking lot to get a car according to the apartment announcement, but I left the car thinking that I had to live first." He told the situation at the time.

Heo (63), a resident of Complex 1, said that he went down to the underground parking lot at the time and pulled out the car himself.

He said, "When I came out of the apartment after hearing the announcement, the water was already up to my knees.

Mr. A explained the reason, "At first, I was relieved to ask them to remove only the cars parked on the ground playground, but then they suddenly asked me to remove the cars parked in the underground parking lot, so I had no choice but to rush down."

Then he remembered, "I started the car and pulled it out, and three or four cars followed me."

The underground parking lot of the apartment where the accident occurred was 150m long, 3.5m high, and 35m wide, and about 120 vehicles were parked.

It consists of one main passageway for cars and three stairway entrances for people to come and go.
