Following Jeju, we will go up to Jeonnam this time.

It is raining heavily in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, which is the path of the typhoon.

A KBC reporter is out at Gukdong Port in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.

Reporter Yoon-Jeong Cho, tell us about the situation.

Yes, I am now in Yeosu Gukdong Port.

Currently, Yeosu is experiencing a very strong wind and rain that makes it difficult to stand still with your eyes open.

You can really feel that the typhoon is near.

As you can see behind me, there are currently about 1,000 ships taking refuge in Kukdong Port.

The fish market also closed early, and merchants near the coast are also preparing for the typhoon by stacking sandbags in layers since morning.

A typhoon warning has been issued for Gwangju, Jeollanam-do and nearby seas from 2 pm on the 5th.

Due to the high waves, all passenger ships to and from Jeollanam-do were also controlled.

The amount of rain that fell until 7pm today was the largest on Gageo Island with 109.5mm, followed by Wando with 103mm and Jindo with 89mm.

Between tonight and tomorrow morning, 50~100mm of heavy rain will fall on the southern coast of Jeollanam-do and 50mm/hr on the inland areas of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.

The typhoon is expected to come closest to Yeosu around 5 am tomorrow.

At this time, in the case of the southern coast, a very strong wind with a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 40 to 60 m/s will blow.

The problem is that 5 a.m. is the high tide in Yeosu. As the sea level rises and strong rain and wind are added, flooding or tsunami damage is highly likely.

Therefore, it seems that people who live in low-lying coastal areas need to be especially careful.
