Korea Meteorological Administration announced that Typhoon Hinnamno made landfall near Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, around 4:50 a.m. a while ago.

We will connect a reporter who is currently in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam to see what the typhoon situation is.

Reporter Shin Yong-shik, how is the current situation?

<Reporter>

I am at the North New Port of Tongyeong.

The typhoon that landed in Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, just before 4:50 pm, was downgraded from river to river, but as you can see now, it is blowing strong rain with strong winds that make it difficult for me to stand.

The news that a typhoon is landing near Tongyeong is very likely to cause tsunami damage mainly in ports and fishing villages.

Currently, about 300 ships are anchored in this port to avoid the typhoon, and about 13,000 ships are evacuated from the Gyeongnam area.

At the same time, there is a lot of rain between 50mm and up to 100mm per hour, which adds to the tension.

Since Tongyeong is an area that has suffered typhoon damage in the past, the residents must have been very nervous.

How do you prepare for a typhoon?

<Reporter>

Here in Tongyeong, the typhoon Maemi in 2003 has already suffered major damage once.

Residents were very worried about the news that the power of this typhoon was also comparable to that of that time.

We were also able to see that the sandbags supplied by the community center were piled up layer by layer at the entrance of each store.

Tongyeong City has decided to stop city bus service from 5 am to 8 am today due to concerns about the impact of the typhoon.

In addition, Gyeongsangnam-do, which raised the level of disaster preparedness to the highest level of severe, switched to an emergency preparedness work system to respond with all-out effort.
