Samsung revealed on Friday that it had been the victim of a hacking of its database at the end of July 2022. Thus, the hackers were able to steal personal information from the brand's customers.

An alert message has been sent by Samsung to those affected, reports Phonandroid.

"On or around August 4, 2022, we determined, as part of our ongoing investigation, that certain customers' personal information was impacted," the company explained in the message to affected consumers.

Only customers in the United States affected?

Information that may have been stolen by hackers includes names, contact details, demographic data, dates of birth and Samsung product registration information.

However, other more sensitive data, such as credit or debit card numbers and Social Security numbers, were not stolen.

The brand has not communicated on the extent of this cyberattack, however it seems that it only concerns consumers based in the United States.

“If we determine during our investigation that the incident requires further notification, we will contact you accordingly,” Samsung added to those affected by this computer attack.

Following this incident, the company assured that it had taken the necessary measures to secure its database, by calling on a specialized company.
