A 30-year-old drunk driver who fled about 20 meters with a police officer who was trying to take a breathalyzer was sentenced to probation.

The 22nd Criminal Division of the Cheongju District Court (Chief Judge Yoon Jung-ryeol) announced that A (37), who was charged with violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and obstruction of the execution of special duties, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and 4 years of probation.

He also ordered 200 hours of community service and 80 hours of compliance driving lessons.

Person A is accused of driving 20 meters after hanging police officer B from a car in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Yongam-dong, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si around 0:17 am on October 11, last year.

It was confirmed that Mr. A was trying to escape when Mr. B, who was called to the scene after receiving a report of suspicion of drinking, stopped his car and tried to take a breathalyzer test.

At that time, Mr. B, who tried to stop driving by putting himself in a car, suffered two weeks of injuries.

A, who fled the scene, was immediately arrested by the police.

As a result of the breathalyzer test, the blood alcohol concentration of Mr. A was 0.231%.

Judge Yoon said, "The quality of the crime is bad by refusing a police officer's request for a fair stop while intoxicated, fleeing, and causing damage."

He said, "I decided to give the sentence in consideration of the fact that the police officer does not want the accused to be punished for the charge of personal injury and obstruction of the execution of special duties."
