This time, we will go to Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, where a typhoon is expected to land via Jeju.

Reporter Shin Yong-shik, how is the situation in Tongyeong?

<Reporter>

Yes, the place I am in is the North New Port of Tongyeong.

There is no rain, but the wind is getting stronger due to the influence of the typhoon.

About 300 fishing boats, including small ships, are evacuated as you can see behind me now on the news that a powerful typhoon is coming.

In addition to this, more than 13,000 ships have completed their evacuation along the coast of Gyeongnam.

All ferry routes to and from Tongyeong as well as the Gyeongnam region have been suspended.

Currently, Tongyeong and the center of the typhoon are about 740 km away.

At this speed, it seems to be the closest to this place tomorrow (6th) around 6 am, but a strong wind advisory has already been issued for the entire area of Gyeongnam, including Tongyeong.

From today to the day after tomorrow, it is expected that up to 400 mm of rain will fall in this area alone.

As this area has already suffered major damage from Typhoon Maemi in 2003, Tongyeong City is continuing to guide ships, outdoor advertisements, and fish farms, etc., regarding safety measures in preparation for strong winds of 44 m/s or more, along with preparations to prevent flood damage.

At the Gyeongnam Provincial Government level, the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters issued an emergency 2nd stage and entered an emergency working system, and started safety inspections in areas where there is a risk of human casualties and drainage pumping stations.

The Coast Guard Regional Rescue Headquarters has operated the 3rd stage and is maintaining a 24-hour emergency service system.

The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education will start remote classes instead of going to school tomorrow at all schools in the province, including Tongyeong.
