<Reporter> The

city of Seoul has come up with a plan to raise the basic taxi fare by 1,000 won from the current 3,800 won to 4,800 won.

The basic distance will be reduced by 400m from the current 2km to 1.6km, and the standard distance fee will be adjusted from 100 won per 132m to 100 won per 131m, and the time rate will be adjusted from 100 won per 31 seconds to 100 won per 30 seconds.

However, in order to minimize the burden on citizens in the high price situation, the basic rate adjustment will be carried out in stages during February next year.

The basic fare for taxis in Seoul has been maintained at 3,800 won since it rose by 800 won three years ago, but the Seoul Metropolitan Government is of the opinion that an increase is inevitable.

Taxi business revenue has decreased due to the corona virus, and prices and fuel costs have risen, so it is necessary to preserve taxi transportation costs, and it will be effective in alleviating refusal to ride short distances.

The premium rate has also been adjusted to solve the problem of late-night taxi shortages.

The late-night surcharge, which is currently from midnight to 4:00 am the next day, will be extended by 2 hours from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, and the late-night surcharge, fixed at 20%, can be flexibly operated up to 40% during peak hours when passengers are the most. is the key.

The new premium rate system will be implemented from early December.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to hold a public hearing next Monday to disclose the details of the rate adjustment plan and collect opinions from the industry, experts and citizens.

The mediation plan is finalized after hearing the opinions of the city council and the Inflation Countermeasure Committee.
