It is claimed that a neurotoxin that causes dementia and Parkinson's disease was detected at Dadaepo Beach in Busan, which was temporarily closed due to the influx of green algae.

On the 12th, it was Dadaepo Beach in Busan.

The water in front of the beach has turned green.

We opened the Nakdong River weir and estuary in the torrential downpour in the central region, but in the process, the green algae in the river washed away into the sea.

Due to this algae, access to Dadaepo Beach was banned for the first time in five years. As a result of environmental groups investigating the condition of algae in the Nakdong River area from the beginning of this month, beta methyl, known to cause Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and Lou Gehrig's disease, in the seawater of Dadaepo Beach Amino alanine and BMAA were detected as 1.116 ppb.

It is said that this is the first time that BMAA has been detected in a domestic environmental sample, and the groups claim that 'This detection of BMAA shows that damage caused by algal toxins can affect not only the Nakdong River but also the sea'.
