Apple has recommended owners of certain

iPhone

,

iPad

and

Mac

models to update the operating system, which has a security flaw that allows them to take control of these devices.

Those affected are

iPhone 6

and later, all

iPad Pros

,

fifth-generation iPads and later, and

Macs

, according to notices posted on

Apple

's website

.

According to the firm

Apple

, in the old version of the operating

software

, "an application can use arbitrary code" with improper access to the device, which means that a

hacker

can perform actions without authorization.

"This possibility could have been actively exploited" by hackers, Apple says, without further details.

The flaw is also exploitable through "maliciously crafted Internet content," adds the Cupertino, California, group.

To address these flaws,

Apple

urges users to download

iOS

operating

software

version 15.6.1

for

iPhone

,

its counterpart

iPadOS 15.6.1

for

iPad

, and

macOS

Monterey 12.5.1

for

Mac

computers .

The security flaws were reported, according to Apple, by anonymous researchers.

The technological giant has made personal data protection and cybersecurity a

leitmotiv

.

In April 2021, it disrupted the

iPhone

ecosystem by forcing apps to ask the user if they agreed to the collection of data about their usage from other apps and on the Internet.

This modification of the iOS

operating system

has deprived highly advertising-dependent applications of valuable tools, in particular

Facebook

or Snapchat, which has lost advertising revenue.
