Seo Young-min, spouse of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, has died after a battle with cancer.



She died at the age of 61.



According to the business world today (9th), Ms. Seo, who was battling cancer, passed away on the 7th at a hospital in the United States.



Chairman Kim is said to be discussing funeral arrangements with his three sons, including his eldest son, Kim Dong-kwan, president of Hanwha Solutions, who is currently living in the United States.



Mrs. Seo is the eldest daughter of Seo Jeong-hwa, a standing adviser to the People's Power, who served as the 12th to 16th National Assembly member and Minister of Home Affairs.



Seo continued her studies after her marriage, and it is known that she graduated from the medical school with the highest degree.



Her grandfather is the late Minister of Justice Suh Seong-hwan, who served as Minister of Justice during the Syngman Rhee regime.



She did not do any special outside activities during her lifetime, but she also served as an advisor to Hanwha Galleria.



She has three sons: Kim Dong-kwan, president of Kim Dong-gwan, second son Kim Dong-won, vice president of Hanwha Life Insurance, and third son Kim Dong-seon, managing director of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts.



A funeral schedule for her deceased has yet to be confirmed.



A Hanwha Group official said, "According to the wishes of the bereaved family, all funerals will be held privately."
