In the cupboard, buried for 2,000 years, was period crockery.
"We find glass objects like these bottles but also ceramics like these vases that we discover little by little", specifies Gabriel Zuchtriegelle, director of the site, at the

“Valuable details about the domestic environment of ordinary citizens of the city,” says the specialist.

A “vulnerable” class
Excavations have long focused on the lavish, frescoed villas of the upper-class inhabitants of Pompeii.
But the city also had servants and slaves and, in recent years, researchers have also been interested in it.
These precious objects therefore provide details of the domestic environment of ordinary citizens of the city.
"In the Roman Empire, there was a large section of the population who struggled with their social status", and formed a class "vulnerable during political crises and food shortages, but also very ambitious to climb social scale", explains Gabriel Zuchtriegelle.
