The world's largest dolmen owned by Korea was damaged during restoration work.

Gimhae City, Gyeongsangnam-do, mobilized a civil engineering company last month to maintain and restore the tomb in Gusan-dong, and it is suspected that most of the cemetery, including the boulder under the top stone, which is a large cover stone of the tomb, was overturned.

Gusan-dong dolmens are known as the world's largest dolmens, with a headstone weight of 350 tons and a burial facility centered on dolmens of 1,615 square meters.

The Cultural Heritage Administration visited the site and confirmed that the floor stone under the top of the dolmen and the lower cultural layer were damaged.

In addition, in order to change the status quo, it is necessary to establish and implement a separate preservation plan for cultural properties.

The city of Gimhae acknowledged that it had not consulted with the Cultural Heritage Administration in advance, but explained that the floor stones damaged by sunlight and rain and wind for a long time were removed one by one by hand, washed and then put back in place and no heavy equipment was used.
